Ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam suffered a heart attack in Srinagar where he was on a holiday with his close friends. The 58-year-old is known for films such as Roja and Bombay.

Ratnam was playing golf at the Royal Spring Golf Course in Srinagar around 1 pm on Sunday when he complained of chest-pain and was immediately rushed to the Sher-iKashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, about 7 km away from the state's capital.

A source familiar with the development told Mirror that the director stayed at the hospital for the night before being moved to Delhi early morning on Monday, where he's now recovering.

"He will now be moved to a multi-speciality hospital in Chennai," the source said. The filmmaker's Ok Kamnani recently released in theatres to much critical acclaim. He has had a history of heart-related complications.
